Title: Front of House Volunteer
Accountability: Visitor Attractions Manager, Customer Services Co-ordinator, Senior Curator and Archivist, Curator
Hours: This role will require a flexible time commitment including weekends, school holidays and some evenings. Ideally volunteers should be able to offer at least half a day per fortnight in order to make the experience fulfilling and worthwhile

Purpose of role: Visitor Attraction team is growing to ensure the best possible welcome and engagement is delivered to all audiences. We are creating a new Front of House Volunteer team who will provide a fantastic welcome, excellent customer service and engage with audiences of all ages and backgrounds in our amazing new redeveloped museum.
Front of House Volunteers will work in a range of positions in the museum: in the galleries managing entrances, monitoring and engaging with exhibition visitors; supporting the Customer Service Co-ordinators; and facilitating engagement activity in the galleries.
Helpful skills/experience: Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to provide a friendly welcome. Confidence and ability to deal with basic enquiries, and an understanding of when to pass more complex enquiries to staff. An enthusiasm for the Trust and its aims. Vigilance and an understanding of the need to keep visitors and exhibits safe. A co-operative approach to working with other volunteers and staff as part of a team Willingness and ability to attend training and meetings. A commitment to working with all sections of the community and to providing additional support to those visitors who may need it
Training offered: Induction session, information provided on the history of the building, and on the themes of the museum’s galleries and exhibitions, orientation of the museum, health and safety, visitor routes, and basic security measures
