  • Gang Violence (Nottingham only) - A 16-year-old has been found guilty of robbery under the principle of joint enterprise and sentenced to 5 years’ custody. He argues that his sentence should be reduced as the principle of joint enterprise has not been applied correctly in his case.
  • Diminished Responsibility (Nottingham only) - This appeal case focusses on Nicola Edgington, who having fatally attacked a member of the public, was convicted of murder. She appeals against her conviction, wishing to reduce the conviction from murder to manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility.
  • Freedom of Religion - A former airline employee appeals against the decision of the Employment Appeals Tribunal that she has not been indirectly discriminated against on the basis of her religion. Her former employer had introduced a new uniform policy which meant she was unable to wear a cross necklace at work, which conflicted with her religious beliefs.
