Crime Club: Transportation to America
America: the land of the free, unless you were an 18th-century convict. While Britain’s transportation of prisoners to Australia is widely remembered, far less is known about the thousands sent to Britain’s North American colonies before the War of Independence.
Why were convicts transported across the Atlantic? What kind of work awaited them when they arrived? And how did transportation to America differ from the later penal system established in Australia?
Real crimes. Real stories. Real evidence.
Join us for the latest instalment of Crime Club on Thursday 30 July, a chance to discover more about infamous crime cases from history. Free drink included!
Tickets £16.50 full price/£15.50 concessions* – Booking essential.
This event is suitable for over 18's only, proof of I.D. may be required. Please be aware that some of the material covered may be sensitive in nature.
