Imagining the Future of Justice through Speculative Fiction

Speculative fiction encompasses the genres of sci-fi, fantasy and horror: genres that depart from reality as we know it and ask questions about the nature of the world we live in. In this workshop we’ll imagine the future of the justice system through the lens of the objects in the 30 Objects Representing Justice exhibition. We’ll explore the exhibition, choosing objects we want to write about and then consider what those objects tell us about the past and how they might inform the future. This is a generative fiction workshop focussed primarily on worldbuilding and near-future sci-fi. By the end of the workshop participants will have had to opportunity to plan and write a piece of flash fiction about their chosen object. The content will be accessible to attendants of all levels, whether it’s their 100th piece of fiction or their first.
