Baskets & Woven Dreams: The beauty of finding purpose
Taking basket weaving as a metaphor, this workshop will look at contemporary forms and approaches to creative pieces around the themes of purpose and hope, using a variety of colours, textures, and weaving materials.
This workshop also invites discussion of the function of basketry within the prison system and rehabilitation.
This workshop invites discussion of the importance of finding purpose whilst developing new skills, as well as the valuable space for mental wellbeing and social bonding.
Whilst creating our pieces, a consideration for design might be to ask if there is a need for both functionality and aesthetic or if the purpose can be purely the journey and the joy of making something beautiful.
