Brews and Potions: Mixing Word

A potion is a liquid drink, often medicinal, poisonous, or magical, typically consumed in small doses to induce a specific effect, such as love, healing, or death. These concoctions are frequently featured in folklore, fantasy literature, and historical contexts.

In this creative writing workshop, we will gather ideas and words from the exhibition to inspire our rhymes, recipes and remedies back in the classroom. Linked to the idea of work as salvation or punishment, we will decide who we wish to save or punish and invent recipes to create the desired effect.

Suitable for absolute beginners and experienced writers, this workshop will have something for everyone.

We will write our words on paper and wooden spoons, and use words from the worlds of blacksmithery, cobbling and gardening to link our potions to the world of work.

Lucy Grace is an experienced writer and workshop leader from Nottinghamshire, who uses creative ideas to develop writing and stories.
