To celebrate Black History Month, we are honoured to profile Professor Veronica Pickering MBS HAC in our Project Lab.
There has certainly been plenty to celebrate during Professor Pickering's career to date, which has seen her make history on several occasions, becoming the first Black woman to hold a number of high-profile positions.
In April 2023 Professor Pickering was appointed High Sheriff of Nottinghamshire, the first Black woman to hold this position.
She has generously donated her High Sheriff court dress to the National Justice Museum. This display celebrates Professor Veronica Pickering’s achievements and role as High Sheriff. It also showcases the creative collaboration between Professor Pickering and students at NTU who designed her High Sheriff court dress to reflect her Kenyan heritage and connections with Nottinghamshire.
