Wear Your Protest
This workshop has been developed in response to the youth group’s collaborative, protest-themed “Wear Your Protest” project, and accompanying exhibition.
Participants will explore themes of protest, identity, and collective voice through creative textile techniques inspired by historical and contemporary activism. Using lino printing, fabric embellishment, and handmade cockades, participants will create wearable protest-inspired artwork on denim jackets to take home.
The session encourages experimentation with imagery, symbols, slogans, and colour, inspired by museum collections, social history, and traditions of political dress and protest fashion. Participants will be introduced to accessible printmaking and construction techniques in a supportive environment, with opportunities to personalise their work and share ideas with others.
The workshop aims to foster confidence, creativity, and discussion around how clothing and visual symbols can communicate personal experiences, beliefs, and community identity, while celebrating the creativity and themes explored by the youth group exhibition.
