Learning in Nottingham
Our inspirational educational visits use real courtrooms, museum spaces and objects to help pupils gain a hands-on understanding of the law and justice.
With programmes for primary (KS1 and KS2) and for secondary schools and colleges, we tell the story of law and order across five floors of diverse and intriguing exhibits.
Our 18th century Grade II listed building provides a perfect setting for learning. It has two authentic Victorian courtrooms, an 800-year-old prison complete with original Georgian cells, exercise yard, and medieval dungeons.

We use visual timetables in all our lunchrooms. The facilitators also carry a copy of this visual timetable on their clipboards with all KS1, KS2 and SEND groups.
We provide a range of colour overlays for students to use in our workshops.
We have a small number of ear defenders & fidgets which are available, if required, on the day.We can create Widget symbol versions of our workshop activity sheets on request.
We have accessible teaching and lunchroom spaces and lift access around the museum.
Lunchrooms can be accessed throughout the day for use as a quiet space if required.
We have two accessible toilets and Nottingham Contemporary (a 2-minute walk down the road) has a Changing Places toilet.

For groups whose students may require a little more support or smaller group sizes
While we normally have a minimum group size of 20 students, for SEND groups, this minimum number does not apply. We can work with groups of all sizes.
All our workshops can be adapted to best meet the needs of the students attending. If you need a more bespoke day, please do contact us and we will work with you to develop a visit that works best for the students attending.
